  • Stupid Prizes for Smart People - July

Okay, they are finalized.  I added the remaining prizes for this month.  I must say that my favorite of the most recent prizes is the InEquality TShirt with the equation of "I > U"

    Grand Prize: XUFO
    The original remote control X-UFO
The brand new X-UFO, recently unveiled is undoubtedly the DB’s of radio controlled flying. The unique RC XUFO from Silverlit Electronics is probably the most amazing and original Flying machine ever seen in the UK

Completely ready to fly for up to five minutes under full three dimensional control, the X-UFO incorporates the latest miniature technology, utilising four powerful electric motors with two pairs of contra-rotting propellers and an innovative electronic gyroscope, for incredible stability.

The X UFO is made of tough EPP Foam and composite plastics. The X-UFO maybe flown up to 100m indoors or outside in calm conditions. One red and three blue flashing LED lights not only assist orientation and indicate when the gyro is up to speed, but also make it look just like a real UFO, especially when flown I the dark!!!

    1st Prize: USB Missile Launcher
Somebody annoying you in your cubicle? Blast em!
The USB Missile Launcher is the ultimate deterrent against those annoying people who lurk around your desk because they've nothing better to do. The Launcher holds three foam missiles, and Missile Command is located on your desktop (which is a great deal more convenient than having it buried under Cheyanne Mountain in Colorado - but that's Norad for you). You simply use your mouse to control the launcher which rotates and tilts as you zero in on your victim, that, despite being deeply childish, is immensely satisfying. The Missile Launcher fires its three foam missiles sequentially as you hit the 'Fire' button, and though collateral damage is minimal, the fun factor is exceedingly high. We just love USB toys

2nd Prize: Wolf Claw Devour FPS Keypad
    Devour Your Gaming Opponents
How can you improve on FPS gaming keyboard perfection? The Wolf Claw Devour FPS Keypad follows in the footsteps of the elite Wolf Claw II... one of the most highly regarded gaming keyboards ever constructed. Where the Wolf Claw II offered both a gaming keypad and keyboard in one, the Devour slims the design down by offering only the deadly circular Wolf Claw key configuration for gaming. This frees you up to use your existing keyboard for non-gaming functions. In addition to the 40 specialized keys for FPS gaming, handy volume controls and 12 function keys ensure everything needed for maximum in-game efficiency is at your fingertips.

3rd Prize: Micro Remote Control Helicoper
The Holy Grail of Pocket Size Aviation
This Micro Helicopter is fully assembled and ready to fly in less than 5 minutes. Piloting this mini copter is a snap and it can survive virtually any type of crash unscathed. With full flight control in any direction you can make the helicopter take off from your desk then land on your hand. It can hover in place almost motionless like some futuristic robotic insect. We had 3-year old children fly this helicopter without damaging it. It is like some kind of R/C space time continuum paradox. ind seeing expensive toys crash and smash into small bits.

    4th Prize: Galileo Gravitator
    Galileo's Spheres
In May of 1609, Galileo Galilei did not invent the telescope. He heard about it while searching online for an inexpensive nose hair trimmer. What he did do, however, is improve on the design and use it to study heavenly bodies (the Moon, Jupiter, the Zambini sisters, etc.) His revolutionary discoveries led to our expanded knowledge of the Sun and the moons of Jupiter, and helped prove that the Earth was not the center of the universe (which was the accepted belief at the time). In his honor, we present the Galileo Gravitator.

Each Gravitator is a combination of 16th century artistry and 21st century technology. With minimal effort you can magnetically hover one of the four included celestial spheres. LEDs in the base and top of the Gravitator shine on the sphere with a bluish-purple glow. The LEDs also help you find the balance of the sphere, allowing you to set it all up in mere seconds. There's also a rotation switch (if you want the sphere to spin slowly) and a fine tuning knob (to make sure the balance is perfect). The Gravitator is a futuristically classic embellishment to any office or home, and a great experiment in gravity.

5th Prize: GameCom Pro 1 USB Gaming Headset
    Enhanced for PC Gaming
Take command of your gaming experience with the Plantronics GameCom Pro1 digital stereo PC gaming headset. Offering rich stereo sound with maximum bass, it is great for gaming as well as music. With convenient inline volume and mute controls and a noise-canceling microphone, the GameCom Pro1 is the best choice for an exceptional gaming experience.

    6th Prize: Lav Nav
Never miss in the dead of the night
Perfect gadget for those nights where you are staggering and trying to find the target. The Lav Nav Incorporates a nightlight, visual targeting system, and " Put the #@$&^% seat down! " reminder technology, the LavNav is a practical solution to those familiar issues.

How this device works is very simple. When you approach it the dark the light turns on thanks to its sophisticated sensor. Makes the toilet a lot safer and easier to see at night without irritating your partner. Bathroom lights can be painfully bright in the middle of the night. So why switch them on?

Guys, is the girl in your life always complaining that she has to go paddling after you're been to the loo in the middle of the night? Does she moan when she falls into the toilet because you left the seat up during the evening?

The LavNav turns on when you approach in the dark, and turns off after you leave, shining gentle yet sufficient light where you need it, when you need it.

    7th Prize: T-Qualizer
T-Shirt with an equalizer that reacts to your surroundings
Sound and light in isolation stimulate the human senses and make up the principle elements of communication. When sat together they make for fantastic theatre. However - when "fused" the result is captivating.

For music lover, clubbers and, of course, geeks, This cool FlashWear T-Shirts will ensure you stand out at your next party, function, disco or rave!

8th Prize: Gupi - Intelligent Robot Guinea Pig
Life is just not complete without an animatronic guinea pig
Aside from being able to wander about without clonking himself, he has different moods and behaviours depending on how you treat him, and makes more than thirty different sounds (which we're guessing is a great deal more than your average Guinea Pig). If you don't play with him he becomes lonely and scared, and he'll go off and hide in a dark place, but if you stroke him he'll feel loved, and will be happy. Gupi can also hear you, and will react to voices and sounds, depending on his mood. When happy he'll actually come running at you when you call him, but when he's scared he can't stand noise and will run away from it. When happy, Gupi will also follow a light beam so you can lead him wherever you want him to go.

    9th Prize: Labrynth Puzzle
    Watch out for the Minotaur
We haven't named this the 3D Labyrinth Puzzle after the Greek mythological labyrinths for nothing. Now, there may not be a Minotaur lurking in there, but this puzzle is so skilfully designed - and nigh on impossible to crack - that it had us puzzling over it for hours.

The objective is to guide the two balls inside the puzzle from the octagonal entrance hole all the way to the round exit hole. Sound easy enough? Think again! There are 26 'rooms' within the spherical puzzle, and the balls will only pass through the rooms and their holes when the colours match up on both sides of the hole.

It involves a lot of twisting and turning, biting your tongue in concentration and snapping at anyone who dares interrupt your train of thought to get these colours lined up, and the balls to the exit, but boy is it satisfying!

    10th Prize: iGuy
    Enjoy playtime with your iPod
Meet iGuy-the first bendable, posable friend for you and your iPod! Not only is iGuy fun, he's fully functional- offering great rubberized protection, docking capability, and screen protection for your iPod or iPod Photo.

iGuy is your iPod's new best friend! He provides protection and fun for you and your iPod. Pose his arms- sit him down in the dock, and trust that his rubberized body and screen protector will keep your iPod safe. How much protection does iGuy really offer? iGuy's rubberized body protects your iPod from bumps, scratches and even the occasional drop. The removable screen protector stays put and is harder plastic, giving your screen extra protection.

    11th Prize: i > u
    The Ultimate Inequation
There are countless formulas and maxims out there in the universe of math, physics and more — The Pythagorean Theorem, a basic differential equation, E=mc2, and the definition of Pi are ones that many of us know (or at least knew at one point).

Well, this T-Shirt shows off "The Ultimate Inequation®". The Ultimate Inequation is a highly complex and well-documented representation of the basic premise of superiority shared by many a geek, gamer, or hacker. Put simply, the Ultimate Inequation is i > u.

12th Prize: The beloved Apu of The Simpsons fame
    "Thank You, Come Again"
A fun Simpsons figurine featuring Apu in all his Kwik-E-Mart splendor.  Apu is probably my favorite Simpsons character and you must really love the signs posted in front and around the counter.

13th Prize: Napolean Dynamite Talking Pen
    "Sweet!"
This pen says 7 lines from the famous Napolean Dynamite movie.  Hey, lot's of people have pens. Some even have pens with Napolean Dynamite on it.  How many people actually have a talking Napolean Dynamite pen.  You will be the talk of the office (no pun intended).

    14th Prize: Flower Cube
    They Swing in Harmony
Flower cube is a very simple concept. What it does is basically sitting pretty at your table and moves it's flower head from side to side in a very soothing action. But what makes it special is first of all it's solar powered and doesn't need any batteries. Also it can be connected to other Flower cubes and can have a synchronised side to side head movement.

15th Prize: 50 Jobs Worse than yours
So, you think your job is bad...
You think your job is bad? Try being a Sherpa, a Saddam Hussein Double (now unemployed), or the person who operates the "It's a Small World" ride. Satirist Justin Racz has spanned the globe to find fifty jobs worse than yours, so we can all feel better about our own. Fully illustrated, featuring color photos of the undesirable and unfathomable, Fifty Jobs

    16th Prize: Grow A Girlfriend
This may be the only way

If you are like any of my friends and colleagues, Growing your own Girlfriend may be the only way that you actually get one.  Look on the bright side, though, there are some distinct benefits:

    - You don't have to remember Birthdays or Anniversaries
    - She lets you have sole custody of the remote
    - Enjoy Sunday football all day.

  • The July Prizes are here (most of them, at least)

I just added the prizes for july.  Most of them at least.  I have about a half dozen more that I will be adding today/tommorrow.  If you haven't visited the Community Credit Prize Page you can see them here.  I must say that my two of my favorites are the USB Missile Launcher and the Lav Nav.  The remote controlled UFO is pretty amazing too, IMHO.
