In the past few days, I have been struggling with a rather strange error. For some, and only some people, they would get an error showing "Critical error: SiteURLs.config" and they could not access the site. Now, not being a Community Server expert, I had a hard time explaining this. It would seem to me that this type of error should show up everywhere or not at all. However, since it would show up for some folks and not others, I was running out of explanations and techniques to fix it. This morning, in a really great blog post by Dan Rigsby, who just happened to be the grand prize winner this month (Congrat's Dan), somebody left a comment saying that deleting cookies would solved the problem. Lo and behold, it did. This is the first time that I actually solved a bug based on blog feedback. I will have to add this to my list of debugging techniques.
It is a good thing that Dan has such an active readership. A quick shout out to a few folks.
Dan Rigsby - Thanks for the great blog post. It was very nicely written and appreciated.
Aaron Lerch - Good job pointing out the cookies issue. You are obviously a lot wiser than I.
The image below shows off what has been my nemesis for the past few days...
