  • XNA Game Studio Express UG Meeting

Imagine building your own games for the XBox 360 using the .NET Framework.  If this excites you, this is your lucky day.  This upcoming December 12th, Russ Fustino of Microsoft will be presenting on that very topic, XNA Game Studio Express.    It will be an introductory session on XNA Game Studio Express, which consists of a set of tools based on Visual C# Express that allows students, hobbyists and gamers to build games that target both Windows and XBox 360.  In this session, Russ will be showing off the following aspects of the XNA Game Studio Express:

    • The XNA Framework. You will see a set of managed code development libraries based on the .NET Framework 2.0 which will allow game developers to be more productive when creating games for Windows and the Xbox 360. The XNA Framework allows game developers to create modern games using the C# programming language and a rich set of development libraries.
    • The XNA Framework Content Pipeline. The XNA Framework provides its own content pipeline to make it easy to get rich content (3D, 2D, sound, etc.) from content creation sources into a game. The XNA Framework also provides a very high level of API unification across the Windows and Xbox 360 implementations, thus virtually eliminating the cost and effort required to port games between these two platforms.
    • Game Studio Express also contains a full set of documentation, how-to’s and starter-kits that demonstrate how best to utilize the content pipeline and XNA Framework.
    • See a live demonstration of how to get started and build a game from scratch.

If you have not a chance to Attend one of Russ's presentations, I highly recommend it.  Russ always gives phenominal, highly entertaining presentations that cover very relevant topics to our fellow developers.  Here is some additional information on the topic he will be presenting on the 12th.
