  • Borders Books - Wifi, But No Power

Don't you hate places that advertise that they have Wifi, but have no outlets to plug your laptop into?  Maybe it is just me.  Let me explain....

Just thought that I would vent about a new pet peeve of mine.  Let me start by saying that one thing I like about Starbucks is that Starbucks love the WiFi user.  Say what you will about Starbucks being the big bad monopoly that is too pervasive and is destroying the little coffee shop owner guy.  One thing for sure is that Starbucks is setup for Wifi.  Not only do they have wifi connections in every store, but they have tons of power outlets.  Yes, tons and tons of Power Outlets.  I just came from Borders book store and thought that I would chill out and work on my laptop.  After all, they are part of the same t-mobile hotspot network.    It all sounds good on the surface except that they never have enough power outlets.  Right now, the song Ironic, by Allanis Morrissette is going through my head.  So, once again, I went into Borders with high hopes of reading books, drinking coffee and working on my laptop, but ended up leaving.  They even remodelled their cafe, so I thought for sure they would add a place for my laptop to get some juice.  Before I left, I asked the guy behind the counter about it and he had great reasoning....They don't want customers loitering around all day.

In all fairness to Borders, they are not alone.  I have found a few places that would be cool "Wifi Friendly" places to sit down for a couple of hours and work, but they also had no place to actually keep my laptop powered up.  Well, when I become President, my first act will be to pass the "National WiFi Electricity Act".

  • Microsoft Silverlight Questions are highly encouraged

I just added a new forum to Community Credit for Microsoft Silverlight.   If you have any questions about Microsoft Silverlight, please ask them here.   Not sure how I overlooked it earlier, but apparently I never really added a forum for Silverlight questions or discussions.  Well, that was then and this is now.  As you may know, I am a huge fan of the technology and would love to discuss it with other folks who are using it or planning to use it.  And, of course, if you should have any questions, please post them.  No question too easy or too tough.
