    Installations on CS v2.1

    Has anyone successfully installed CommunityCredit on any beta version of CommunityServer v2.1?

    I'm having problems with v2.1 Beta 2, in particular.

    Hi Andrew,
    which problems are you experiencing?

    dotNetSide is using the addon with cs 2.1 beta 1 without any problems.

    Re: Installations on CS v2.1

    Good morning, Simone

    Thanks for your response.    I'm getting a CommunityServer error whenever I make the change to the CommunityServer.config file to enable the add-on.    When I get home, I'll post the contents of the eventlog.

    On a whole, I think it's because I botched the secret key Big Smile

    I have the DLL in the \bin folder, and I've tried putting the add-on code at the beginning or the end of the CS Modules section, but as soon as I enable the code, it goes south and generates the errors (which I'll post tonight).

    Since there's at least one site running on some version of v2.1, then the problem is quite likely to be me.

    Re: Installations on CS v2.1

    Okay, I received my updated info for my code and key (thanks, David!), and I installed it on my CS 2.0 RTM installation at work to test it.

    I added the .DLL file directly to the /BIN folder.

    I copied the text to my CommunityServer.config file and made the proper changes to reflect my code and key.    The next time I clicked on a page in my site, it generated the error as seen below in the EventLog.

    I was going to post a screenshot, but I don't have upload rights.  :)

    I'm going to try restarting the web service...   be back shortly.

    Re: Installations on CS v2.1

    It's starting to look like I should have used the other forum for outlining this problem.  :)

    Anyhow, here are some more details...

    Here is a snippet from my CommunityServer.config file with my Affiliate info obscured:

      <CSModules>
       <add name = "CommunityCreditPointSubmission" type = "CSCommunityCredit.CommunityCreditPointSubmission, CSCommunityCredit">
        <AffiliateKey Value="B-------------" />
        <AffiliateCode Value="U-----------" />
        <Trace Value="false" />
       </add>

    I have it right up at the top.  In my tests prior to today, I was putting it at the very bottom.

    This last time, I uncommented the entry, and restarted the entire IIS service.   When I tried to get to the website, it generated the customary and generic "Community Server" error.

    My eventlog looks as follows:

    As soon as I commented the line, and saved the file, I was able to get back to the website without error.  I didn't need to restart any of the web services.

    Any assistance in this area would be most appreciated.  I would love to be able to start using this add-on on my sites.

    Thanks!!

    That seems to me a normal shut down operation.
    Did u try adding the bin, changing the communityserver.config file, and then restart the webserver manually?

    Here is the errors listed in the Exceptions report on my server.

    Not sure why it feels that CSCommunityCredit doesn't exist.

    And thanks to whoever moved this thread into the correct forum. :)

    I hate to ask you that stupid question, but:
    "Are you sure you copied the CSCommunityCredit.dll file inside the \bin folder of your online CS web application"?

    Left no stone unturned... :)

    I *just* tried it again to be sure, and it still fails, no matter what part of the file it is under.

    I don't understand what the issue is.    This is happening across 3 different systems that I've tried to install the add-on.

    I'll see what happens when I get home again...

    Is my BIN file supposed to be somewhere in my system path?

    Hmmm.  No, as far as I know the BIN directory does not have to be in the system path.  In an earlier post you mentioned, "The only thing that is non standard is the physical name of the folder that hosts the entire website, but I don't see why that should be a problem for this app only. " Now, I would not expect that to be cause an error either, and since you are getting the error on 3 seperate systems it would eliminate that since I am assuming that the physical name of the folder being nonstandard is not the case for all 3 systems.  The physical name of the folder should not be relevant either.

    One thought that comes to mind is permissions.  Can you view the permissions of the dlls in the bin directory to see if there is anything different from the Community-Credit dll than the other dlls in the folder?  In my experience, one reason that files may be considered "not found" is that they do not have the correct permissions set.  It is a bit of a longshot, but perhaps you can give it a look at to see if there is anything that seems to be different.

    Kindest regards,

    Re: Installations on CS v2.1

    Thanks, David.

    You're right about the folder and path names not being the same across all 3 systems.   They are almost identical in 2 of them, but that hasn't been an issue for any other add-on.

    I also looked at the permissions, but the same permissions are inherited for all DLLs on my home system.   Later today, I'll check the one at work.

    I'm also going to compare my config files to the default and see if any other the other changes I've made previously would potentially impact this...

    Re: Installations on CS v2.1

    Okay, I checked the permissions of the v2.0 RTM installation at work, and I also checked for any weirdness in the Config files vs the default, and there is nothing that even suggests a remote possibility of an issue.

    The permissions are the same on all files in the BIN folder, and the few changes in the 3 major config files couldn't possibly interfere with this app.

    I'll just have to wait and see what Simone comes up based on that last post.
