    Vista is Expansive

I've a doubt: the editions of Windows Vista, are, maybe, TOO Expansive!!! What do you think?

    Re: Vista is Expansive

You are right, in Italy the Ultimate version of Windows Vista costs 599€! It is possible to buy a new desktop computer spending much less! If you are interested, you can read a discussion about this argument on my blog: http://blogs.ugidotnet.org/marcom/archive/2007/01/27/68911.aspx.

Many people can say Vista is the result of years of work and experience, but I don't understand this choice. In USA the price for the Ultimate ed. is $499, we can get it with €599, like you've said, it's not correct Sad. Not many people upgrade their version to Vista, if the price will be the same.

    Re: Vista is Expansive

    Hi Guys,

Yes in Europe it is and no offence to Ms but I can't really understand the policy......
    According to BBC

But Microsoft could face a backlash from consumers over its pricing plans - with the cost of Vista versions in the US roughly half the price of equivalent versions in the UK.
Prices for the OS in the UK range from about £100 for an upgrade version of the Basic package to £249 for a copy of the upgrade to the Ultimate version of Vista.
In the US prices start from $100 (£52) for an upgrade of Vista Home basic to $249 (£127) for the equivalent Ultimate version.

You can get the rest here:

    Cheers

    Kind Regards,

    Re: Vista is Expansive

For what it's worth - at least in my experience with the UK, pricing always seemed to be like this:

    1) take something with a US $ price tag

    2) Change the $ to £ (British Pounds - I was there in the early 1990's)

    3) Sell to British consumers

I remember seeing stuff like a pair of jeans that cost $20 in the USA cost £20.00 in England...and with the exchange rate as it was, that was waaayy more than $20
