Came across this neat little utility today. I had been searching for a way to host a quick ASP.NET application on a Windows XP Machine and didn't want the overhead of installing/configuring and securing IIS. Check it out - they have versions for ASP 1.1 and 2.0

Problem in IIS manager utillity in IIS 5.1

Hi guys,

I was installing PHP on my machine yesterday. For making the IIS 5.1 to serve PHP I opened IIS manager console and opened “Application Configuration> Add” to add the PHP executable. When I try adding the executable and extension still I was unable to click “OK” button since it is disabled. It seems it is a bug in this tool.

How do I Install IIS on Windows Vista?

I found the answer to my question already, but I thought that I would share the resource with you since it was very helpful and the site I found it on looks to be a really useful site.

To give you a bit of background, I was trying to make changes to a Visual Studio 2003 app just now and when I tried to run it, it popped up a dialogue saying "visual studio .net cannot create or open the application because no web server was detected at this URL". Since I just installed Vista Ultimate and had not configured IIS, I was not quite sure where to enable it. With a bit of Googling, it let me to this article which walked me through it perfectly. A nice aspect of this article is that the person who wrote it also had Vista Ultimate on their machine, so I could just follow the steps exactly as they were and.... Voila!
