Tell us about your Scrum Experiences.

Just curious to know who is using scrum.  I only started discussing it recently with somebody who submitted an entry about it.  However, like Pink Cadilacs, you know they say.. You don't realize how many pink cadilacs there are on the road until you drive one.  Since first discussing it, the topic has come up again in a project that I am involved with and one of the members of the team asked me if we were using any formal methodologies like scrum.

With that being said, please share your thoughts on this subject and your experiences in using this methodology.

    Kindest regards,

Re: Tell us about your Scrum Experiences.

In theory we're using Scrum where I'm at...I say in theory because in practice, although we're going through the motions of Scrum, and we're using the "language" of Scrum, it sure doesn't feel like what I would have thought Scrum to be...to me it feels more like a compressed Waterfall dressed up to look like Scrum.

When we were first told we were going to be using it I was pretty excited, but the excitement faded as I realized what I was reading along about the Scrum process and how it was envisioned was not exactly what we were doing....for one thing, the "Morning Scrum" where we'd stand in a group talking about what we did yesterday, what we're going to do today and any blocking issues we have quickly grew far beyond what I think it was meant to be...for one, too many people started showing up and the discussions often lasted longer than anticipated (even with everyone standing up outside for this "meeting").

I still hold out hope for the next project though!
