New Mole v4.2 - New Generic Method For Starting Mole - Plus 3 New Mole Vidoes!

I’m writing this while trying to stay in my skin! Josh and I are so excited about this new version of Mole we released today. We present the:

“The Rock Star Hack of 2008!” - We at Team Mole have been trying for a long time to figure out a generic way for developers to launch Mole. Josh “Rock Star” Smith has finally breached this stone wall with his awesome hack. Mole has been modified so that Visual Studio can recognize System.WeakReference as a supported Type that Mole can visualize. By using the WeakRefernce object as a wrapper, Mole can now be launched using any object type.

I’ve also added three new videos today to the Mole video series.

Mole v4.1 Released

We have just released a new version of Mole v4.1 and you can download it for free at :

Here is a bullet list of the changes.

Made changes to VisualSnapshot code to catch & handle possible exceptions caused by WinForm object property editing.
Added Full Type Name ToolTips to the TreeViews, MoleCrumbs and property grid Type column.
Added Show Namespaces option to have the TreeViews, MoleCrumbs and property grid Type column show the full type names.
Added ability to export the property grid to an .xml file. That file can then be imported to allow element comparisions.
Hide the Show Attached Properties CheckBox when not viewing WPF applications.

Mole v4.1 is a Visual Studio Visualizer with property editing. Mole is a high performance, full featured, multifunction visualizer allows detailed inspection of WPF, WCF, ASP.NET, XBAP's and WinForm applications. Editing of properties is now supported on all project types.

When you see what Mole can do, you will be amazed. You can learn so much about the .NET Framework just by using Mole on your own projects.

The article has all the code and test benches for VS2005 & VS2008 and a .pdf manual. (Karl believes in documentation.)

Hey Lou!

I'm using Camtasia Studio version 4. After saving the video in the native format, I exported to .avi and uploaded to YouTube. I recorded using 640 x 480. YouTube the does its thing.

My .avi files are 7MB and 11MB so far. I wish there was a place to post the .avi files so that people could view them the way I recorded them and could go full screen too.

Any rate, its free and I'm happy. I'm so surprised too. Lots of viewers, good commnets and several blog entires, including folks I never heard of before.

I guess there is nothing like some video. I'll do many more of these.

Mole v4 Training Video Series On YouTube

I have taken the plunge into the world of training videos. I have uploaded two short videos that cover different aspects of Mole v4. I'll add more over the next week or two until I've covered Mole.

So far, people like them and have left some very positive feedback.

The real reason for publishing these videos was to allow someone to just see Mole v4 in action. I know for me, a short video and I'm ready to go.
